After graduating with a BA from Bowdoin College in 1974, Steve joined Lawton-Byrne-Bruner Insurance Agency (LBB), the largest insurance brokerage firm in St. Louis at the time. During his 12 year career there he was elected Senior Vice President and made an owner of the firm. In 1986 Steve was instrumental in the sale of LBB to Marsh & McLennan, Inc.
Upon joining Marsh & McLennan in 1986, Steve was named Managing Director (the firm’s highest professional designation). Over the next 24 years, he held numerous positions including Head of the St. Louis Office (for 15 years). During that time the office had about 200-250 employees and achieved revenues exceeding $50 Million annually. Steve was responsible for serving many of the largest corporations in St. Louis, including Anheuser-Busch, Southwestern Bell (AT&T), May Department Stores Co., Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Ralston Purina Company.
Steve joined GCG Risk Management in the spring of 2009. Under Steve’s leadership, the firm has grown rapidly, acquired key talent and deepened its relationships with key industry carriers in order to provide broader markets to clients. Steve has a very strong attention to detail, but it is Steve’s innovative and customized client solutions that have helped Steve build strong client relationships. Steve’s clients value his technical focus and sound business advice.
Steve lives in Lake Forest, Illinois. He has been married to his wife, Susan, for 35 years and they have four grown children. Steve is active in a number of clubs and other organizations in the Chicago area.
